Benjamin Dayson (Baruch Dezick)

Oral history interview with Benjamin Dayson (Baruch Dezick). Interviewed by Irene Dodek. Benjamin speaks about coming to Canada, where his name was changed from Dezick to Dayson,in Alberta. He details an interesting story in which he received his citizenship after only three years in Canada. He also speaks about his adolescent life and trials in Russia, prior to immigrating. He explains how after many complications, and being unable to move to Canada as he had wished, he made his way to Rotterdam to take a boat to Mexico, when fortunately, he was able to move to Canada after all. He talks about this travel and immigration process in great detail. He also speaks on his work over the years and moving to Vancouver, where he was married, as well as his life and his family in Canada. His wife, Esther, is also present during this interview.

Oral history interview with Cyril Edel Leonoff who was born in Winnipeg, 1925. First job was building the Royal Alexandra Hotel in Winnipeg. Cyril went into the armed services, specifically the Signal Corps, afterwards taking engineering and marrying Faye in 1949. He started as a engineering assistant at Rivers & Harbours Branch, Public Works in New Westminster. After two years of civil service he took Geo-technical engineering. While focusing on his engineering career, Cyril met the 'Barish' brothers during the nineteen sixties which brought his attention onto Jewish History.

He took Sciences, Microbiology and later teaching at the University of British Columbia Earl, becoming a High School biology teacher for the city of Coquitlam. Growing up in New Westminster Earl belonged Young Judea and went to Camp Hatikvah.

An Interview with Philip Waterman who was born in Saskatchewan, 1918. Interview consists entirely of Mr. Waterman's experience in the Royal Canadian Air Force - joined 1940 - during the Second World War; including earning the American Air Medal and being sent to a Prisoner of War camp in Poland.

Oral history interview with Jessie Anne Allman. Jessie worked for 'Children's Aid Society' and the Hadassah, helping to establish over 20 new chapters in Vancouver and Saskatchewan. Worked with the Jewish Family Service Agency.
Jessie's mother started the 'Quick Help Society' and was a member of the Hadassah.

Morris also discusses significant events that occurred during her lifetime, such as her experiences growing up in both Churchbridge and Vancouver, and her passion for music.
