Bill Morris

Oral history interview with Bill Morris who was born just outside of Moscow, Russia. The family emigrated to Canada in 1913. Bill's father was active with the Jewish Aid Society. Bill joined the Canadian army and was active during the Second World War, seeing action primarily in Italy.

Talks about growing up in Vancouver and the Jewish community here. Her father was a junk peddler when they first arrived. Talks about raising her family in Vancouver and her family's active relationship with the Schara Tzedeck synagogue. Speaks of the importance of the Jewish Community Centre in the life of the community when she was young, the support and confidence it generated amongst Betty and her friends.

Earl Lesk

Oral history interview with Earl Lesk on the subject of New Westminster; in preparation for 2010 exhibit on the New Westminster Jewish community. Earl was born in New Westminster in 1945 and felt disconnected from both the Vancouver Jewish community by living in New Westminster; and he felt disconnected from from non-Jewish children as he and other Jewish children had to go to Hebrew school on Thursdays, missing out on Hockey and Lacrosse, leaving him to feel ostracized.
