Market

Colour Kodachrome 35mm slide depicts people at a farmer's market in Irkutsk.

Note for slide reads: "Market street in Irkutsk. This is as close as you will see to free enterprise in Soviet. People have been allowed to grow vegetables on plots of ground given to them by government. They can keep the money, but prices set by government but usually supply and demand determines final price. Vegetables are better here than in state owned store. Lucy asked me to accompany her to vegetable market where she bought a couple of cones with edible seeds."
