Celia Margolis

Oral history interview with Celia Margolis, born in Ottawa,Canada. She primarily discusses the activities and roles she held during the Second World war in both England and Canada. She belonged to the Royal Canadian Ordinance Corps for about a year than travelled as a singer in the staff band of the Royal Army Medical Corp to England. Made an officer in the British army, having previously made Corporal / Sargent-major in Canadian army. Left the army in 1947 and took the the 'Empress of Canada' in October of 1948 to Montreal but soon moved to Vancouver in 1949.

Paul Heller

Oral history interview with Paul Heller who was born in Poland in 1911. His father side comes from Poland whereas his mother's family originates from Lithuania. Paul discusses his involvement in Poland's forestry and later estate management, the rise of Hitler, Poland being attacked in 1939 and the lengths involved to escape Poland, retrieve his mother and emigrate to Canada. Paul married Edwina in 1936.

Gloria Harris (Steinberg)

Oral history interview with Gloria Steinberg Harris who was born in Vancouver in 1924. Her father worked in the Vancouver shipyards during the Second World War. Gloria worked in the department of fisheries until she married, where she worked in an office. Gloria was active with the Council of Jewish Women and the Beth Israel Sisterhood Board.

An Oral history interview with Charna Plottel who was born in Saskatoon, 1920. Charna was Secretary to the Chairman of Continuing Medical Education at UBC, Secretary to the Associate Dean of Medicine at UBC, Secretary to the Medical Director (Vice-President) at Shaughnessy Hospital.

Dr. Lloyd Mallin

Oral history interview with Dr. Lloyd Mallin who was born in Saskatchewan in 1920. He received degree in Dentistry from the University of Alberta.

Margaret Libbert

Oral history interview with Margaret Libbert who was born in the former Moravian capital of Brno in 1928, than part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Margaret discusses the challenges her family faced having to uproot themselves and relocate to England when Germany invaded Austria in 1938. The family landed in Montreal initially but travelled by train and arrived in Vancouver by 1940. Margaret studied International Relations and Russia at UBC, she was on the Students Council and first woman elected President of Literary and Scientific executive at UBC. She than worked for the government of Canada.

Selina Robinson

Oral history interview with Selina Robinson who was born in Montreal in 1964, though her father’s father was born in Lithuania; whereas her mother’s father had been born in Denmark. Selina's parents moved the family to British Columbia in 1978 primarily due to the Separatist climate engulfing Quebec.
