Morris Saltzman

Morris's father brought the family to Vancouver because he was became a successful merchant, eventually owning two grocery stores; 1st in wholesale potato business; second on corner of Nelson and Bute St. Morris was involved in and or speaks of B'nai B'rith, Jewish Community Fund and Council, Zionist Organization, Community Fund and Council, Vancouver Lodge and St. John's Shaughnessy Men's Club.

David Skulski

David, born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, speaks about his family’s history in Ukraine [Beresteczko] and Russia and immigration to Canada. David discusses his early life and adolescence in Moose Jaw and North Battleford and relocation to New Westminster, British Columbia. David talks about both his secular and religious education and relationship to the Peretz Centre for Secular Jewish Culture, both in his youth and later in his leadership. David also speaks of his experience as a professional oboist, which influenced his founding and direction of Early Music Vancouver, residency at SFU, and role in Vancouver’s symphony.

An interview with Fannie Segall who was born April 3, 1892 in Cupar, Saskatchewan homesteading with her daughter Annette, where she owned a store. Fanny describes her social life in Cupar; belonging to the bridge club; holding fund raising dinners and teas with the Ladies Auxiliary; packing parcels to be sent to the servicemen overseas once a month. She was also involved in Zionist organizations, the Legion and the Order of Eastern Star.

Al Kolberg

Oral history interview with Al Kolberg who was born in Saskatoon, 1919. His father came from Russia in 1905 where he worked as a shochet. Al recalls the reasons for Jewish assimilation in Vancouver in the early to mid twentieth century.

Dr. Isaac Stoffman

Oral history interview with Dr. Isaac Stoffman who was born in Winnipeg, 1916. He graduated from the University of Manitoba, began his Doctor's practice in Yellow Grass, Saskatchewan. He than enlisted in the Canadian army in 1943 as a medical officer, stationed in Regina Military Hospital and Dundern military training camp than as a psychiatrist in London Ontario.

Cyril Edel Leonoff

Oral history interview with Cyril Edel Leonoff who was born in Winnipeg, 1925. First job was building the Royal Alexandra Hotel in Winnipeg. Cyril went into the armed services, specifically the Signal Corps, afterwards taking engineering and marrying Faye in 1949. He started as a engineering assistant at Rivers & Harbours Branch, Public Works in New Westminster. After two years of civil service he took Geo-technical engineering. While focusing on his engineering career, Cyril met the 'Barish' brothers during the nineteen sixties which brought his attention onto Jewish History.
