Photograph attached to scrapbook. It depicts an unknown man donating blood at a B'nai B'rith blood bank. B'nai B'rith Lion's Gate Lodge organized a blood bank clinic at Beth Israel synagogue in May 1958. Corresponding photos of this event can be found in other scrapbooks.

It depicts B'nai B'rith Community Service Committee members (left to right) Jack Sparton, Maurice Lifchus, and Chuck Kemp preparing Easter baskets for parties at both the Crippled Children's Hospital and the Children's Aid Society's Alma House. Entertainment for both parties was arranged by B'nai B'rith Lion's Gate Lodge.

In the letter, Private Seidelman mentions an army order prohibiting people from sharing the addresses or movements of soldiers in England with people in neutral countries. (It is assumed that Private Seidelman is still in quarantine)

Letter from Private Edward Joseph Seidelman, dated October 2, 1916. Sent from Camp Hughes, Manitoba to Rachel Seidelman of Vancouver. Private Seidelman asks Rachel questions about her university life. He tells Rachel that he engraved his name on many desks in U.B.C. and that she can find his name in other places as well. In the letter, Private Seidelman also indicates his camp mailing address as the following: D Company, 196th. Western Universities Batt. Camp Hughes, Man. In another part of the letter, Private Seidelman mentions that he actually went to Brandon, Manitoba and not Winnipeg for the Jewish holidays, and while in Brandon he stayed with a Jewish family by the name of Kisner. Additionally, Private Seidelman writes that he will be going to Brandon again this coming Thursday till Saturday.

Letter from Private Edward Joseph Seidelman, dated December 14, 1916. Sent from Seaford, Sussex, England to Rachel Seidelman of Vancouver. Private Seidelman spends part of the letter describing the differences in food available in England and Canada. He also states that cases of measles have broken out in the camp and as a result some men are being quarantined for 16 days. Private Seidelman adds that his battalion is changing into an Officer's Training Corps.

Letter from Private Edward Joseph Seidelman, dated September 1, 1917. Sent from "Somewhere in France" to Rachel Seidelman of Vancouver. Private Seidelman writes that it was reported that some Canadian soldiers recently captured some German soldiers who stated to them, "We put over on you a little barrage but you Canadians throw on us a whole ammunition factory", possibly suggesting that Germany might soon surrender.
