Series contain membership lists of Vancouver Hadassah-WIZO Chapters, as well as the Vancouver Hadassah-WIZO Executive Council.

Hadassah Bazaar

Series contain records pertaining to the annual Hadassah-WIZO Bazaar, a major fundraising event for projects in Israel, Palestine and in Canada. The first Bazaar was held in 1935, the first “large” Bazaar in 1952, and the last Bazaar in 2007. Records consist of administrative files such as bazaar history, correspondence, minutes and reports, clippings, as well as other records pertaining to the publicity and advertising of the Bazaar, and a wide variety of Bazaar related ephemera.


Series contain textual records, mostly meeting minutes and agendas, of the following chapters located around the Greater Vancouver area: the Atid Chapter; the Aviva Chapter; the Ben Zvi Chapter; the Deborah Chapter; the Eilat Chapter; the Elana Chapter; the Hadissim Chapter; the Hatikvah Chapter; the Henrietta Szold Chapter; the Herzlia Chapter; the Kadima Chapter; the Lillian Frieman Chapter; the Maccabiah Chapter; the Machar Chapter; the Massada Chapter; the Menorah Chapter; the Nordau Chapter; the Royal City Chapter; the Shalom Chapter; the Tel-Hai Chapter; the Tssabar Chapter; the Weizmann Chapter; the Youth Aliyah Chapter; and the Ziona Chapter.

Administrative Records

Series contain administrative records created by members of Vancouver Hadassah-WIZO. Records include Vancouver Hadassah-WIZO history, chapter and executive member kits, official Vancouver Hadassah-WIZO constitutions and anthems, and other general textual records.


Series contain records pertaining to the events organized, hosted and/or attended by Vancouver Hadassah-WIZO members. Records include reports, meeting minutes and agendas, and event related ephemera.

Administrative matters

Series contains minutes of meetings and related records (such as meeting attendance sheets) for the Vancouver Jewish Community Council, 1954 through to 1964, for the Vancouver Jewish Community Fund for 1965, for both the Council and the Fund for 1966, and for the amalgamated Vancouver Jewish Community Fund & Council for 1966 to 1968. It also contains annual reports for various organizations in the Vancouver Jewish community, including the Community Centre Committee, the Community Council, the Jewish Welfare Bureau, and the Budget Committee until 1980. Also included is material relating to a fact-finding initiative leading to the project to create an ongoing census survey of the community (see Census cards series), and a project to honour past presidents of the Community Centre which provides names and tenure dates for Community Centre Presidents from 1932-1954. There are also various committee reports, grant applications, correspondence files and publicity and clipping file.

Fundraising campaigns

Series consists of records relating to community wide fundraising campaigns organized initially by the Vancouver Jewish Community Fund and then by the Fund and Council operating under the Jewish Community Trust Fund of Vancouver. Included are lists of names assigned to the volunteer canvassers, canvasser lists, lists of donors and the amounts given, and staple bound books of donations receipt copies.
