Series contain newsletters, magazines, and commemorative books, created by local and national chapters of Hadassah-WIZO.

Publicity

Series consists of newspaper clippings, press releases, photographs, reports on the public’s perception of Hillel, guides to public relations, articles, newsletters, flyers, pamphlets, and posters (as well as original designs, layouts and drafts). Hillel Vancouver’s various activities, events, and programs are documented. Publications represented in this series include Hillel Highlights and Jewish Western Bulletin.

Reference and resources

Series consists of reports, pamphlets, flyers, posters, magazine and newspaper clippings, press releases, bibliographies, articles, booklets, petitions, guides, factsheets, maps, statistics, and handwritten notes. The material in this series was kept on file as reference sources to assist Hillel staff in fulfilling the organization’s mandate. Topics represented in this series include the Holocaust, cults, Israel and the Middle East, Israel’s international relations, Zionism, anti-Semitism, the Jewish Diaspora, Islam, terrorism, OPEC, and the persecution of Jews around the world. It is important to note that the series also contains a file that consists of photocopies of records that document the founding of Hillel Vancouver (including the organization’s original constitution and the agreement with the University of British Columbia granting the use of the building that would become Hillel House).

Relationship with other organizations

Series consists of newsletters, pamphlets, flyers, reports, newspaper clippings, press releases, photographs, minutes, agendas, memos, and correspondence reflecting the relationship between Vancouver B’nai B’rith Hillel Foundation and various other organizations. Organizations represented in this series include other Hillel branches in North America (including B’nai B’rith Hillel Foundation headquarters in Washington, DC), various synagogues in the Lower Mainland and Victoria (such as Temple Shalom), National Institute for Campus Ministries, Canadian Jewish Congress, American Association for Ethiopian Jews, International Association of Hillel Directors, University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University, and Jewish Community Federation.

Renovation (Matanah G’Dolah Project)

Series consists of files regarding the building of the addition now known as the Al and Sylvia Fisher Building, the Congregation Emanu-El Educational and Cultural Centre, which was completed in 2003.

Series contain reports on activities hosted and/or attended by Vancouver Hadassah-WIZO members, such as conventions, campaigns, and events.

Research files

Series consists of historical information and research that was collected in preparation for JFSA’s 50th anniversary video and commemorative book.

Research Materials

Series consists of publication receipts, textual clippings, sketches, and photographs collected by the magazine for potential issue content.
