Sam Heller

Oral history interview with Sam Heller, who was born in Poland, later moving to England than emigrating to Canada in 1940. Sam's father Horace was one of Poland's top lumber producers, Sam tried to get into the lumber trade on the east coast of Canada but was impeded, therefore moved to Vancouver. Besides Sam's involvement in the Forestry industry, he was involved in the Zionist Association.

Sandy McCormick

Oral history interview with Sandy McCormick who was born in Vancouver. Growing up she belong to Habonim and B’nai B’rith girls groups. Sandy's Grandfather was a significant official in Krakow, owning a lumber yard before fleeing the Communism. Sandy worked for the School Board in Vancouver developing programs.

Oral history interview with Sol Miller, who was born in England, 1889. His father was from Lithuania and mother was from Poland. He was involved in the Jewish Colonization Association and taught in Saskatchewan.

Susan Quastel

Oral history interview with Susan (nee Ricardo) Quastel, who was born in the Netherlands, 1923. She lost her sister and parents to the Holocaust. Susan worked as a nurse throughout the war in Holland, than began studied nursing and a course on matrons at Oxford. Susan came to Vancouver primarily because of her husband who was from Vancouver. Susan is a member of the National Council of Jewish Women, Vancouver chapter of Hadassah, Jewish Family Services, of Canadian Friends of the Hebrew University and has helped research at the Vancouver Holocaust Society.

Sylvia Hill

Oral history interview with Sylvia (Abraham) Hill who was born 1914 in India. Her husband George Hill worked as a consulting engineer at Brittania Beach, helped develop the Geiger counter. Sylvia's mother Aviva was born in England in 1896. Sylvia taught at Vancouver Technical School and a few Catholic schools. Was President of the Louis Brier Home and Hospital Resident's Council.

Thelma Ginsberg

Oral history interview with Thelma Ginsberg, who was born in London, Ontario in 1925. She worked at and served the community in the National Council of Jewish Women, the United Artists Corporation - Film Exchange, the Jewish Orphanage of Western Canada and Louis Brier Home for Aged. Her husband Harold tells of his great uncle , sculptor, Mark Antokolsky.
