Letter - July 1916

Undated letter from 1916 from Private Edward Joseph Seidelman. Sent from Camp Hughes, Manitoba to Private Seidelaman's family members in Vancouver (although it seems that the letter is directed more to his mother) . Letter describes Private Seidelman's train journey from Vancouver to Manitoba, and Manitoba's intense weather. Private Seidelman also mentions upon arriving at Camp Hughes, he and his fellow soldiers were received by the Duke of Connaught.

Letter - May 7, 1917

Letter from Private Edward Joseph Seidelman, dated May 7, 1917. Sent from "Some other place in France this time" to Rachel Seidelman of Vancouver. Private Seidelman reports that he is a hospital recovering from shrapnel wounds to his right leg. He also mentions the murder of Chief of Police, McLennan, presumably of Vancouver.

"WUB" Western Universities Battalion 196th [newspaper] published October 21, 1916, No. 1, Vol. 1, from Camp Hughes, Canada. The newspaper contains articles, photographs, cartoons and editorials.

Greeting Card

A greeting card in celebration of Rosh Hashanah on August 20, 1893. Sent by unknown sender from Winnipeg. On page 1 (front) of card, there are English, German, Hebrew, and Yiddish words, as well as an image of "Baron De Hirsh". The handwritten message in the pages of the card seems to be in a combination of Hebrew and Yiddish. There is also a Congress stamp at the top left corner of page 4. Card is meant to be read from right to left (in accordance with Hebrew and Yiddish language).

Undated birthday card sent from an unknown sender to Harry Seidelman. Written on the birthday card is a poem. Card was possibly sent between 1930-1940.

Pamphlet - April 20, 1955

The April 20, 1955 "Rails-to-Rubber" issue of The Buzzer, the publication of the British Columbia Electric Railway Co., Ltd. Pamphlet announces the retirement of Vancouver's street cars, and describes the history of transportation in Vancouver. Also included are many photographs showing Vancouver in the past.

A booklet advertising the city of North Vancouver sent to Edward Joseph Seidelman. Booklet contains black and white photographs of various places and attractions in North Vancouver in the early 1900s.

Programme - April 27 and 28, 1917

A programme of Oliver Goldsmith's play, "She Stoops to Conquer", held at Britannia High School on April 27 and 28, 1917. On page 3 of programme, Mr. Seidelman is listed as the agriculturalist in the "Science Super Six" group.
