The fonds consists of photographs, photo albums, and some miscellaneous textual records from the Langer family. Materials include portraits, travel photos, and other family memorabilia.

The fonds is organized into six series: Family background, the Langer family, the Spitzer family, the Lowy family, the Geyerhahn family, and assorted unidentified. The fonds also includes three photo albums at the file level: Max and Lucy baby album, [Spitzer family pre-WWI photo album], and Gibian family photo album.

Langer family

Max and Lucy baby album

Album contains photographs of Max and Lucy with their family between 1935 and 1939. Photographs were taken in Vienna, France, and Palestine. For preservation, pages were removed from original binding and loose photographs were placed in envelopes.

Family background

Series contains materials provided by Michael Livni following his 2019 oral history interview. Records were created as a part of Michael's professional and family history research.

[Lowy family tree]

Item is a printout of part of a powerpoint presentation compiled by Michael Livni in 2014. Information regarding the youngest generation of the family was out of date at the time of donation.

[Spitzer family pre-WWI photo album]

Series contains material from a family photo album focused mostly on the Spitzer family, mostly pre-WWI. Series primarily consists of portraits on card photographs. Other material includes post-WWI photos and a holiday card. For preservation, all material was removed from the original photo album and placed in envelopes.

Langer family

Series contains photographs and some letters of the Langer family, beginning with the marriage of Fritz and Olga. Materials were created on Fritz and Olga's travels before having children, in daily life in Vienna, throughout the family's journey to Canada through France and Palestine, in daily life in Vancouver, and when visiting family in St. Louis. Series also includes photographs of friends of the Langer family.
