Oral history with Bertha Baron who arrived in Canada 1907 from Minsk, Russia; settled in Rumsey, Alberta. In this interview she discusses her involvement in the Victoria Jewish community and reflects on Zionism.

Oral history interview with Dr. Jacob Narod. He was born in Vilna and talks about the antisemitism there while growing up. At 22, he escaped and went to London. Then he went to New York, but he didn’t like it so he with to St. Louis, he worked in Scaffolding there. Next, he went to Portland and then up to Vancouver in 1910. He heard that Vancouver was a beautiful city. He talks about people (names and occupations) who moved to Vancouver during that time. He took a course in Chiropody and opened and office in 1929. The depression hit and he moved to Victoria in 1936. He talks in depth about the Victoria Community with a focus on the Synagogue during the war, entertaining the Jewish soldiers and helping refugees. He moved back to Vancouver in 1949. He was an active member of B’nai Brith.

Oral history interview with Reva Checov who was born in a small village in Russia in 1897. Later in life when she emigrated to Canada she went to McGill University and the University of British Columbia. Reva was involved in the Pioneer Women, National Council of Jewish Women, B'nai B'rith; Red Cross, Heart Foundation, Cancer Society ; Israeli Affairs and the Jewish National Fund among an assortment of other roles.

Oral history interview with Fanka Gaerber who was born 1913 in Stanislav, Galicia. She recounts her experiences of being Jewish in Eastern Europe during the 30's, 40's, escaping the holocaust and the endless terror of years of war.

Oral history interview with Faye Davis who was born in 1935 in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. Faye worked as a court reporter / typist during the trail of Adolf Eichmann in Israel.

Oral history interview with Paul Meyer who was born in Germany in 1916, the same as his parents. Speaks of his experiences during the second world war, in the concentration camps, escaping the Holocaust and emigrating to Canada. Paul was arrested in 1938 on Kristallnacht, taken to Dachau concentration camp but able to pay fines. Classisifed as 'friendly enemy aliens' upon entry into Canada due to German citizenship and Canada declaring war with Germany, had to report to RCMP once a month for a number of years. Paul and his brother started pottery business in Vancouver while their mother worked for the Red Cross.

Oral history interview with Edwina Heller who was born in 1914 in Warsaw. She taught music for a number of years at the University of British Columbia.

Oral history interview with Mariette Doduck who was born in Brussels, Belgium in 1935. She is involved in the Holocaust Outreach Program.

Oral history interview with David Rubin who was born in Transylvania, 1923. He was drafted into a working / bomb clearing battalion of the Hungarian Army in 1944. David chose to come to Canada in 1957 because he had heard it was the country of the future. The Canadian consulate chose Vancouver as his destination. Taught in Ottawa and was recommended to be the reader at Beth Israel Synagogue.

Oral History interview with Ben and Rita Akselrod. Rita was born in Bacau, Romania. They met in a DP camp in Austria. After the war they went to Israel then came to Canada via Italy. They worked as a peddlers then with antiques. Then started a second-hand and antique store in New Westminster. They talk about how antisemitism didn't disappear after the war.
