Interview is about the desecration of the Emanu-El cemetary in Victoria in 2011; explores how the community reacted to this event and the role of historians in preserving historic sites such as this.

Rabbi Harry Brechner leads the Emanu-El Congregation in Victoria, British Columbia. After the desecration, he wrote an open letter to the Times Colonist inviting the desecrator to come clean the headstones and learn about the history of the cemetery. He also helped to arrange the vigil.

The fonds consists of correspondence, meeting minutes, financial records, newspaper clippings, and photographs from the Mountain View Cemetery Restoration Committee (under the Schara Tzedeck Cemetery Board). The fonds includes extensive records of all Jewish families buried in the cemetery, including pictures of their gravestones before and after being restored, family trees, and copies of birth, immigration, marriage, and death certificates when available.

Letter from the Department of National Defence sent to Rachel Seidelman on February 20, 1923. The letter informs Rachel that a "Memorial Plaque" is being sent to her.

Letter - August 14, 1919

Letter sent to the Seidelman family from the Adjutant-General of the Canadian Militia, dated August 14, 1919. The letter states that the death certificate of Private Edward Joseph Seidelman is being given to the Seidelman family. Letter is assumed to have been sent together with the official death certificate.
