Lowy family

Series contains photographs of Fritz Lowy's (later Langer) side of the family. Photographs include portraits, vacation photos, and other family photos. Includes photographs of Fritz as a child and young adult before marriage to Olga Spitzer.

Spitzer family

Series contains photographs of Olga Spitzer's side of the family. Series mainly consists of portraits, but also includes travel photos, identity cards, and others. Includes photographs of Olga as a child and young adult before marriage to Fritz Langer.

[Spitzer family pre-WWI photo album]

Series contains material from a family photo album focused mostly on the Spitzer family, mostly pre-WWI. Series primarily consists of portraits on card photographs. Other material includes post-WWI photos and a holiday card. For preservation, all material was removed from the original photo album and placed in envelopes.

Langer family

Series contains photographs and some letters of the Langer family, beginning with the marriage of Fritz and Olga. Materials were created on Fritz and Olga's travels before having children, in daily life in Vienna, throughout the family's journey to Canada through France and Palestine, in daily life in Vancouver, and when visiting family in St. Louis. Series also includes photographs of friends of the Langer family.

An interview with Harold Wodlinger who was born in Manitoba in 1890. He worked as a telegraph operator before joining the Canadian Army in the Artillery Corps and after he left. Harold bought a business in Leask, Saskatchewan from and Englishman and ran it for thirty years, though he also ran a farm in Leask raising cattle. Harold’s daughter Helen was in Vancouver so they decided to move to Vancouver in the 1970's. The interview is an in depth recount of the Wodlinger family history since arriving in Canada in the 1880's.

Mordechai Edel

Oral History Interview with Mordechai (Robert) Edel for the JMABC Artists Scribe. Interviewed by Daniella Givon. Edel was born in England in 1949, but describes the life stories of him and his family spanning across Europe, North America and within Israel. These stories include his family's experience with the Holocaust and his growing up Jewish; they also detail his many professions before becoming an artist including musician or hazzan, hairdresser, and photographer. Edel's primary medium of art is oil painting which is in the impressionist style, and constantly informed by his Jewish faith and heritage. Edel tells anecdotes of some of the people he's met through his art within Canada and abroad, and his most memorable commissions along the way.

Bill Levine

Interview with Bill Levine. Interviewed by Debby Freiman for The Scribe, 2018. Bill talks about his family's history, his childhood and education in Vancouver, and his career. He also talks about his late brother John Levine (d. April 17, 2012) who had owned and operated John's Pizzarama. Bill discusses his involvement in the community through organizations such as Jewish Committee Foundation and UBC Board of Governors among many others.
